How do I stop Locul reading a folder or file?
Locul reads the notes in your home folder. To leave something out, open Settings, Notes and files, right-click it and choose Hide from Locul.
On this page
Locul reads the Markdown files and PDFs in your home folder, so there is no list of folders to pick. To leave a folder or file out, hide it from Locul in Settings > Notes and files.
Hide a folder or file
- Click the Settings gear at the bottom of the left rail.
- Under Brain, click Notes and files.
- In the left column, find the folder or file.
- Right-click it and choose Hide folder from Locul (or Hide from Locul for a file).
- If it has no memories yet, click Hide it.
If Locul already made memories from it, you choose what happens to them:
- Remove N memories deletes those memories for good.
- Keep them leaves the memories searchable. The folder or file stops feeding new ones.
Either way, it leaves search straight away.
You can also hide a note you have open: click ⊘ Hide from Locul in its toolbar.
Bring a hidden item back
- In Notes and files, click show ignored at the top of the folder list. Hidden items show an ignored label.
- Right-click the item and choose Un-ignore (re-process).
Locul reads it again and builds memories from it.
Pin the folders you use most
Click the star next to a folder name to add it to Bookmarks. Under Discovered, Locul lists note folders it found elsewhere. Click Add to bookmark one, or the × to stop showing it.
Troubleshooting
On a Mac, Locul finds no notes. macOS needs to give Locul Full Disk Access before it can read your files. Locul asks for it during setup. You can turn it on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.
