How do I connect Cursor to Locul?

Open Settings, Connected apps, click Connect next to Cursor, then restart Cursor. Or copy the Cursor setup from Manual setup into your mcp.json.

Open Settings > Connected apps and click Connect next to Cursor, then restart Cursor. Cursor can then recall and save your Locul memories.

Connect Cursor

  1. Click Connect apps at the bottom of the left rail.
  2. Scroll to Use Locul memory in your AI apps.
  3. If Cursor isn’t listed, click Show all N apps.
  4. Next to Cursor, click Connect.
  5. Quit and reopen Cursor.
  6. Back in Locul, click Recheck. Cursor shows Connected.

Set it up by hand

Use this if Cursor shows Manual, or Connect doesn’t work.

  1. Under the app list, click Manual setup.
  2. Click the Cursor tab, then Copy setup.
  3. Open the file ~/.cursor/mcp.json in your user folder. On Windows it is %USERPROFILE%\.cursor\mcp.json. Create the file if it isn’t there.
  4. Add the “locul” entry inside “mcpServers”, next to any servers you already have.
  5. Save, restart Cursor, then click Recheck in Locul.

Locul connects to Cursor as a local program, not a web address. Don’t paste an Ollama address (like localhost:11434) or any other web address into this file for Locul.

Troubleshooting

“Locul found … but cannot read it.” Your mcp.json has a typing mistake. Fix the JSON, or delete the file, then click Recheck.

Cursor doesn’t use Locul. Restart Cursor fully after connecting. In Locul, check the status says Locul is ready.
