# Update Locul

Locul checks for updates on its own when it opens and every few hours. When an update is ready, a bar at the top of the window says a new version is available. Click **Install & restart**.

## Install an update

1. When you see the bar at the top saying a new Locul version is available, click **Install & restart**.
2. Wait while it shows the download progress and then **Installing**.
3. Locul restarts on the new version.

Nothing is downloaded until you click **Install & restart**. To hide the bar for now, click **×**.

Your bots, memories and settings stay as they are when you update.

## Check for updates yourself

**On a Mac:**

1. In the menu bar, click **Locul**.
2. Click **Check for Updates…**.
3. If there is an update, the bar appears. Otherwise you see **Locul is up to date.**

**On Windows:** download the latest installer from https://locul.ai/download/ and run it.

## Troubleshooting

- **"Update failed. Please try again."** Click **Retry**. Check your internet connection first.
- **It keeps failing.** Download the latest version from https://locul.ai/download/ and run it.
- **Still stuck?** Email support@locul.ai with your Locul version and a screenshot.
