# How do I set up Locul for the first time?

Source: https://help.locul.ai/articles/set-up-locul-for-the-first-time

After you sign in, Locul asks which AIs you use, looks for bots you already have on your computer, and then asks you to name your everyday helper. It takes a minute or two.

## Step 1: Pick the AIs you use

Your bots run on the AI plans you already pay for.

1. On **Which AIs do you use?**, select every AI you use: **Claude Code**, **Codex / ChatGPT** or **Grok**. An AI already on your computer shows **Found on this computer**.
2. Click **Continue**.

If you use none of these, click **I use something else, skip**. You can set up the AI later in **Settings** > **AI model**.

## Step 2: Bring in your bots

Locul reads Claude Code and Codex on your computer to find skills and agents you already have. Nothing is uploaded or changed.

1. Wait while Locul shows **Looking for your bots**.
2. Check the result, for example **We found 9 bots**. Click **Review** on an AI to see which bots it found.
3. If an AI shows **One step left**, follow its button, such as **Copy the install command** or **Sign in to Grok**, then click **Check again**.
4. Click **Bring in N bots and continue**, or **Continue** if there is nothing to bring in.

The originals stay where they are. Anything on a schedule comes in switched off, so nothing runs until you turn it on.

You can finish anything you skipped later in **Settings** > **Import bots**.

## Step 3: Name your bot

Locul opens on the chat with your everyday helper and asks you to name it. This bot chats, remembers how you like things done and runs jobs for you on a schedule.

1. Type a name (up to 40 characters), or pick one of the suggestions.
2. Click **Save name**. To keep the name it has, click **Keep "<name>"**.

## What to do next

- Say hello to your bot and ask **What can you do for me?**
- Ask it to do something on a schedule, like "every Monday at 9, send me last week's numbers".
- Create more bots with the **+** button at the top of the bot list.

## Troubleshooting

- **A banner says "Your bots need Claude Code on this computer."** Click **Set up** and follow the steps in **Settings** > **AI model**.
- **A banner says "Sign in to Claude Code so your bots can work."** Click **Set up** and sign in to Claude Code.
