# Is Locul free?

Yes. The Locul app is free for individuals on Mac and Windows, and you do not need a card to start. Paid plans add more, such as cloud storage, sync between devices and team features.

## What the free plan includes

- The Locul app on your Mac or Windows computer, with your bots, chats and routines.
- Your memories, stored on your computer. The free plan holds up to 1,000 memories.
- A free account. A personal or work email is fine.

## What you still need

Your bots run on an AI plan you already use, such as Claude Code, Codex / ChatGPT or Grok. Those plans are billed by their own providers, not by Locul. You can also run Locul with a local model. See [Choose the AI that runs your bots](/articles/choose-the-ai-that-runs-your-bots).

## See or change your plan

1. Click **Settings** (the gear at the bottom left).
2. Click **Account**.
3. Under **Plan and billing**, you see your current plan.
4. To compare plans, click **See plans** or **Plan details**. If a free trial is available to you, the button says **Start N-day free trial** instead.
