# How do I download and install Locul?

Download Locul from https://locul.ai/download/ and run the installer for your computer. Locul is a desktop app for Mac and Windows only.

## Before you start

- **Mac:** there are builds for Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and for Intel Macs.
- **Windows:** the installer is for 64-bit Windows.
- There is no phone or tablet app. If you open the download page on a phone, you can have the download link emailed to you instead.

## Install on a Mac

1. Go to https://locul.ai/download/ and click **Download for Mac**.
2. Open the downloaded `.dmg` file.
3. Drag Locul into your **Applications** folder.
4. Open Locul from Applications.
5. If macOS asks whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet, click **Open**. This only happens the first time.

## Install on Windows

1. Go to https://locul.ai/download/ and download the Windows installer.
2. Run the downloaded `.exe` file.
3. If you see "Windows protected your PC", click **More info**, then **Run anyway**. Windows shows this for apps it has not seen many times yet.
4. Locul installs and opens on its own.

## After installing

Locul opens on the sign-in screen. Sign in or create your free account, then follow the first-run steps.

## Troubleshooting

- **The installer will not run or Locul will not open:** see [Locul will not install or open](/articles/locul-will-not-install-or-open).
- **Reinstalling on a new computer:** download the installer again and sign in with the same email. Your plan follows the email you sign in with.
